I was absolutely thrilled to watch countertenor Daniel Bubeck and harpist Dee Mertens perform parts of 'Infinite Movement' at the official opening of Shadow Garden, a new permanent installation at the College of Visual Arts and Design at the University of North Texas. The centerpiece of the garden is a 22' foot tall, 8,000 lb, stainless steel drawing in space and the concrete plinths that surround it are designed to encourage multiple form of use, from catching and framing the shadows generated by the sculpture and the surrounding trees, to playing a supporting role for temporary student projects, like fashion shows, sculpture installations or performances. The Santolina we planted around them will eventually grow into a dense mat of silver grey foliage, generating yet more shadows.
